Jean Sandel Nutcracker Function
Competition students Elana, Amelie, Anneka, and Isabella performed at Ryman Healthcare Jean Sandel Retirement Village as part of their Nutcracker Christmas function. They had a great time dancing and talking with the residents - top two questions: 'How long have you been dancing?' and 'How do you get your tutu to stay up?'. Many of the ladies in the crowd also shared memories of their own dancing days with the girls. A big thank you to Carla and the Ryman team for the invite!

Raven Wilkinson Passes Away

Wilkinson was a pioneer for African-American ballerinas, having danced with the celebrated Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo throughout the 40s and 50s. Wilkinson travelled with the company even into the American South, a hotbed of intense racism at the time, despite threats and attempts to seize her by the KKK.
