Term 3 is always our busiest term of the year for our students - and we would like to celebrate all their amazing achievements. Hard work and love of dance always shines thru whether at the studio during class, performing onstage or on exam days.
Term 3 started off with our jazz students showing Mrs Duncan their junior and senior NZAMD grades work - with everyone achieving excellent results. Mrs Duncan was a lovely examiner and also examined one of our seniors Georgia via a video exam when she became unwell on our exam day. Many thanks to Mrs Duncan for a lovely exam day which our students enjoyed and the care shown to Georgia :)

Our focus then moved to our ballet students working towards their junior grades - Classical 1 and Classical 2 levels - and our senior students who have worked for 2 years on their Intermediate Ballet exam. This exam session also included: tap students tapping for their tap medals - hip hop classes sitting Street medals - junior musical theatre/jazz class who worked extremely hard on their 'Cat' dance medal - junior contemporary team medal and modern medals. Miss Tate thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone's performance in our last exam session for 2025.

We also gave back to our local community with some of our lovely competition students performing their solos at the Taranaki Special Needs Extravaganza at the TSB Stadium. We have some stunning photos taken on the day during the performance to share with everyone. And we would like to pass on that Briar (in tutu, tiara and dancing on pointe) was the 'favourite performer of the day' and had lots of requests for photos from children watching the performance. :)

Term 3 also offered 2 local dance competitions for our students to participate in - TFDA comps held in September in New Plymouth and Hawera Performing Arts Assn held during the 1st week of school holidays. Our students had a great time backstage at both comps and loved performing their routines onstage. Our competitor students learn many styles of dance - ballet, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, tap, hip hop, ballet repertoire, character, barefoot, demicharacter, lyrical.

Special acknowledgement of the following achievements - Briar (TFDA Tap scholarship) (Scholarship for the competitor most worthy of encouragement for jazz Hawera Comps), Ruby (TFDA Hip Hop scholarship), Aria (placing 1st in restricted ballet class - Hawera comps), Jessica (Intermediate Ballet Champion, Intermediate Ballet Scholarship, most versatile ballet dancer scholarship, most authentic character costume - Hawera comps). But most importantly every one of our lovely students performed their best on stage (with lots of personal bests gained) and grew in confidence along with their presentation skills - and had great fun with friends backstage.

We also have to acknowledge Jessica who attended her first Affiliate week at Annaliese Gilberd Academy in Christchurch - where she was tutored by Abigail Boyle and other marvelous tutors at AGA. Jessica gained so much knowledge and enjoyed the experience so much she is now booked for another Affiliate week towards the end of Term 4.
We are now looking forward to Term 4 which will end with our yearly End of Year Concert and involves all our students from age 3 up. Our theme this year is #letsdance - and we have a great playlist of songs and music for everyone to enjoy performing too.
So on to Term 4 - and if you would like to join our dance family please use the Contact page of our website and message thru to us to register for your FREE TRIAL of any class you are interested in. :)
