Bob Fosse, 'Give a Girl a Break', 1953 Robert Louis Fosse was born June 23 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, to Cyril and Sara Alice Fosse. He attended dance schools as a child, and began dancing professionally at 13, when he teamed up with Charles Gaff to form The Riff Brothers. Spotlight Saturday: Merce Cunningham
This week's Spotlight Saturday features American choreographer Merce Cunningham, known for his exceptional influence on American modern dance. Cunningham was born Mercier Philip Cunningham on April 16 1919 in Centralia, Washington D.C. He began studying dance aged 12. After high school, he attended the Cornish School of Fine and Applied Arts in Seattle, Washington for two years. Spotlight Saturday: Olga Spessivtseva
This week's Spotlight Saturday features forgotten Russian star Olga Spessivtseva. Olga Spessivtseva, 'Giselle' Olga Alexandrovna Spessivtseva was born on July 18 1895, in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. When her father, an opera singer, died, she was sent to an orphanage in St. Petersburg with known connections to the theatre. In 1906, she was accepted into the Imperial Ballet School in St. Petersburg; her teachers there included Claudia Kulichevskaya, Evgenia Sokolova, and Agrippina

Spotlight Saturday: Marius Petipa
This week's Spotlight Saturday features prolific choreographer Marius Petipa, who created over fifty ballets and revived some forty others. Petipa, 1898 Victor Marius Alphonse Petipa was born on March 11 1818, in Marseille, France. His parents were Jean Antoine Petipa, the esteemed ballet master, and his mother, Victorine Grasseau, was a tragic actress and drama teacher. Petipa had five siblings, two of whom died young. When he was only 3 months old, the family moved to Bruss
