She has performed in many local theatre productions as both a dancer and a choreographer. ‘Alison’s Studio of Dance’ was established in New Plymouth in 1992. Alison has successfully passed her IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) teaching exams in ballet, freestyle and modern,  as well as her NZAMD (New Zealand Association of Modern Dance) in jazz. Her latest professional achievement is an appointment as an IDTA New Zealand examiner.

Alison believes that, ‘dance is for everyone, from little ones to adults – so let’s get dancing!’

Mandy began dancing at the age of 4 with Alison Pond Dance Academy in Paraparaumu. She studied RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) through to Advanced levels in both ballet and jazz and competed at dance competitions throughout the lower North Island. She returned to ballet as an adult student with Alison’s Studio of Dance in 2010. Shortly after, she began teaching private lessons for students doing competition work. ‘It is such a pleasure to pass on my knowledge and love of dancing to the next generation as well as enjoying ballet classes as an adult student, one of the highlights of my week.’

She continued her training through to advanced levels, teaching and assisting at the studio until leaving New Plymouth to study Physiotherapy.
