Our competition students had an awesome time at this year's New Plymouth Competition Society's Dance Competitions. Well done to everyone who danced their best on stage, especially our first-timer Wenxue. A big thank you to the NPCS committee for hosting these competitions and working to keep them going despite last minute changes in judging (due to weather). A few shoutouts:
Jessica won her ballet, barefoot, pointe and variation. She received the Hurley Challenge Cup and the Verena O'Brien Cup for the highest aggregate marks in her categories. Jessica also received the Dawn McAlpine Memorial Trophy for the dancer who best epitomises the poise, elegance and grace of classical dance. This is very special as Dawn was Alison's dance teacher, and we know she'd be thrilled that Jessica received it. Well done Jess!
Isla won the encouragement award for the ballet section as well as a gift set from Lisa Taylor. Keep up the effort Isla!
Elly received a brand new trophy - the Neive Davison Trophy for the best characterisation in the Musical Theatre section. Elly always does an awesome job of her Princess Fiona (Shrek) routine.
Isobelle won her Restricted Ballet class in only her third competition - great work Isobelle!
Poppy won her Demi Character and received a scholarship sponsored by Raewin Mackenzie as runner-up for the Under 8 Aggregate. Keep it up Poppy!
Briar competed for the first time in the Jean White Scholarship class; open class, variation and neo-classical on pointe. We're very proud of your efforts Briar, especially carrying an injury. Well done!

Onto Term 3 - ballet and jazz grades, hip hop and tap medals, TFDA and Hawera competitions ahead!
Enjoy your break and we'll see you back in the studio very soon.
Alison and Selene :)
