Term 4 at Alison's Studio of Dance was especially busy, with lots of performance opportunities for our students.

We began with handing out awesome results from our September exam session, as well as certificates and medals. Well done to everyone who sat a medal or a grade exam, your hard work was much appreciated by our examiner Miss Tate.
In Week 5 our students were joined by fathers, granddads and brothers for Bring a Bloke to Dance week. All our guests did great and we were able to learn some lifts and pas de deux work in our ballet classes. Thanks to all who joined in!
A shout-out to Studio parent Sarah, who volunteered to organise our studio float for the New Plymouth Christmas Parade. It's been many years since we entered a float, but clearly we haven't lost the knack for it, as we were honoured to win Best Theme for our 'The Nutcracker' theme float, complete with Clara and Dewdrop (in costumes by Selene).
The following day (it was a packed week), we met at Highlands Hall for our annual studio concert. Many thanks to all our parent volunteers and well done to all our students - you all did awesome!
We then had a week of weather-themed dress-up in class as we prepared for our performance at Centre City on the Thursday - 55 students performed their concert dances in front of a crowd of the public. It's not easy to perform when the audience is so close, so extra well done to those students, and thanks to Marine and Adie for helping Selene manage all the costume changes backstage.
We would like to acknowledge our teacher Enya, who is moving to the South Island with her family. Enya has been our Hip Hop and Contemporary teacher for several years, and we know the students will miss her dearly. Best of luck with your new chapter Enya!
Finally, Jessica has just been back to Annaliese Gilberd Academy in Christchurch for another week of her affiliate training, and is now looking forward to Summer School at New Zealand School of Dance. We wish her all the best and look forward to sharing her new knowledge in the new year.
Happy holidays and merry Christmas from all of us at Alison's Studio of Dance! Enrolments for 2026 are open and filling up quick - email us to reserve your child's spot for 2026.
Selene :)
