2023 TFDA April Dance Competitions

Our students had a wonderful time over the 5 days of the TFDA April competitions held at TSB Showplace New Plymouth

We have several 'newbies' go out first on stage which takes courage and we were proud of all of them.

Over 5 days of competitions our students danced - ballet - lyrical - barefoot - demi character (telling a story) - character (national dance) - jazz - contemporary - musical theatre - tap - variations and championships.

They had a blast onstage and off :)

We had several students place extremely well and lots of 'special awards' from the judges - one was for Arabella 'for keeping the judge in stitches of laughter' while acting out her demi character (Anne of Green Gables).

Special congratulations to Jessica and Arabella. Jessica placed 1st in Ballet Championship and runnerup for her age ballet scholarship while Arabella was placed 2nd in Ballet Championship and awarded an Encouragement Award for ballet in her age range.

As always all our students gained in self confidence from performing on stage and had a lovely time backstage making friends and cheering each other on. We are very proud of their dancing and also their friendly respectful behaviour backstage.

On to the next competitions now - May 5 6 and 7 Alison's Studio of Dance Restricted Weekend :)
