World Ballet Day is Nearly Here!

It's almost World Ballet Day 2018!

Once again, we're in for a real treat. Three of the world's most prestigious ballet companies combine on Tuesday 2 October for 24 hours of live-streamed rehearsals, company classes, interviews, and backstage secrets. Unfortunately it seems we won't be hearing from The San Francisco Ballet or The National Ballet of Canada this year, but I'm sure The Australian Ballet, The Royal Ballet, and The Bolshoi Ballet, with input from ballet companies around the globe, will be more than enough entertainment for this year's event.

You can watch the event live on the Facebook pages of The Australian Ballet or The Royal Ballet, this year's hosts. If you want to catch something a little closer to home, The Royal New Zealand Ballet will also be broadcasting live from their Facebook page around 3pm. Other notable companies include The Royal Danish Ballet and the Paris Opera Ballet (Ballet de l'Opera de Paris, on Facebook). You can find more details here: https://worldballetday.com.

At the moment there's no schedule up, but from past experience I predict things will kick off around 3pm NZ time. Keep an eye on Facebook!

Personally, I can't wait - we're sure to be in for sneak peeks of some of the best productions currently being performed. Personally I'm hoping to see a snippet of The Australian Ballet's newest production, Spartacus. This is a great way to keep your little dancer occupied during the school holidays - just open Facebook and let The Australian Ballet, The Bolshoi Ballet, and The Royal Ballet babysit!
